There is a discussion of comments on pictures (german). It's under a post of Johannes Kick for collecting supposed stupid two word comments. Two word comments like "nice capture", "eye candy" or only "nice". Most of the commentators gave additional examples or +1 or made bad jokes about the two word commentators.

But these commentators are wrong.

Suppose I publish a picture here. And someone is looking at this picture. This one gives me his attention. He gives me a moment of his life. Perhaps then he clicks the +1 button. He has given me more of his life, to express his appreciation. And he gives me more of his life when he comments on the picture. He clicks on commenting button/link, types his one or two words and click afterwards again to ensure that the comment is saved. So he has taken quite a bit of work upon himself to send me his appreciation.

And I? I despise them even more for it? That they have not given me enough of their life?

What an arrogance!

I love any kind of appreciation. Whether it's sharing a +1, or a one word comment. You've given me some of your lifetime. Thank you for that.
